However, we have found ourselves grappling with an unexpected challenge: the growing presence of a homeless population. This change has ignited a critical conversation among local businesses and residents, sparking various concerns, ranging from safety to the overall ambiance. While we have control over the environment fostered inside of Livita’s retirement residence, the overall atmosphere of Bridge Street does not currently reflect the same care and comfort.
We are empathetic to the challenges and circumstances that have placed individuals in this situation; everyone has their own story, which is why we believe in treating those experiencing homelessness with respect and dignity. Our priority remains the well-being of our residents, but we also recognize the need to extend support to those who are struggling with homelessness, addiction, and mental health.
Despite this challenge, the spirit of compassion thrives within the walls of Livita Bridge Street. Our residents find solace in having a supportive, caring place to live and thrive in. With the changing of the seasons, we are focused on refreshing Livita Bridge Street to reflect the newness of spring. As we navigate through this transition, we have started several initiatives aimed at fostering a sense of community and safety for our residents. For example, we have added modern upgrades and completed a thorough clean-up.
