There have been multiple studies that show how physical activities can benefit a person’s health. This is true at any stage of your life, much so as you get older. As such, it is essential to take advantage of every opportunity to stay active.

In retirement homes in Oshawa, this can be a challenge during the winter season. The colder days make it more tempting to stay indoors. Sure, there are plenty of ways to stay active indoors. However, there is still something more revitalizing about going out under the sun.

Preparing For Warmer Months at Our Retirement Community in Ontario

Here at Livita Centennial, our residents love spending time outdoors. One activity they miss during the winter months is visiting local parks.

Old and new retirement homes in Oshawa enjoy a lot of green spaces. This is because Oshawa has almost 410 hectares of parkland. Residents and their loved ones have plenty of room to enjoy outdoor activities.

Winter still has some time left. However, it’s never too early to plan your next visit to the park! Plan a picnic or an afternoon walk at some of these parks:

1. Lakeview Park

Lakeview is a beautiful community park. It has plenty of green open spaces, lovely views of the lake, and paved walkways. There are also gazebos and many picnic tables where you can spend time with family or friends.

Another area of Lakeview Park in Lakeview Park Beach. Here, people can swim or enjoy the view of Lake Ontario. Further down is the Lakeview Park Pier, where you can walk and enjoy views of the water.

2. Kinsmen Valleyview Park

If you’re looking for a park near Downtown Oshawa, this park is a must-visit. It can be found within the Oshawa Valley Botanical Garden. Judging by the name, you can expect to find plenty of flowers and trees here. It is home to Oshawa’s prized gardens, including the Peony Garden, Memory Garden, and more.

It is an excellent place for a relaxing afternoon walk by yourself or with friends.

3. Lakefront West Park
