Would you like a glimpse of Oakville’s history? Oakville Museum has the perfect display of the community’s history. This is through the heritage and home of Oakville’s founding family, The Chisholms.
The museum is in the historic building of the Erchless Estate. There’s a guided tour that takes you around the family home and explores the buildings and beautiful grounds.
Oakville Galleries
Oakville Galleries is a not-for-profit contemporary art museum. It has art exhibits in two locations: Centennial Square and Gairloch Gallery. It aims to connect communities with audiences through art.

The Old Post Office
The Old Post Office is a house museum. It was Oakville’s first post office built in 1835. It showcases the history of Oakville’s early mail delivery.
The site offers tours during the summer, along with hands-on postal-related activities.
The Thomas House
The Thomas House is another house museum in Oakville, ON. It was built in 1829 as the original home of the Merrick Thomas family. It gives you a taste of what houses looked like in the 1830s-1840s.

Bradley Museum
Just a 15-minute drive away from our Oakville retirement home is Bradley Museum. It is located in Mississauga, at the edge of Lake Ontario. The museum is within a 70-year-old maple grove, with accessible nature trails.
The entire property features 4 buildings: The Bradley House, The Anchorage, The Log Cabin, and a barn from the turn of the last century. It is a display of the history of the former village in Clarkson. Here, you’ll learn about how the property was built, who lived there, and various artifacts on display.
